To use Jimlet, simply download the ZIP file and extract it to any folder. Launch the application by clicking on jimlet.exe. Add text files by dragging and dropping them into the program window or using the "Open" button. Once added, click "Convert" to generate audio files. The output files are automatically saved in the same folder as the original text files with appropriate extensions like .wav or .mp3.
Note: The program works with plain text files only. Files in other formats, such as Word documents, must be saved as plain text before they can be used with Jimlet.
Jimlet offers a variety of voice options, including 5 male and 5 female English voices. Users can change the voice and adjust the speech rate through the Settings tab. Below are samples of the same text spoken with different voices at a 0.9 speech rate:
